Shadows on the wall, Noises down the hall, Life doesn't frighten me at all. Bad dogs barking loud, Big ghosts in a cloud, Life doesn't frighten me at all. Mean old Mother Goose, lions on the loose, They don't frighten me at all. Dragons breathing flame, On my counterpane, That doesn't frighten me at all. I go boo, Make them shoo. I make fun, Way they run. I won't cry, So they fly, I just smile, (and) they go wild. Life doesn't frighten me at all. Tough guys in a fight, All alone at night, Panthers in the park, Strangers in the dark, That new classroom where, Boys all pull my hair, Kissy little girls, With their hair in curls, They do not frighten me at all. Life does not frighten me at all. Don't show me frogs and snakes, And listen for my scream, If I'm afraid at all, It's only in my dreams. I've got a magic charm, That I keep up my sleeve, I can walk the ocean floor, And never have to breathe. Life doesn't frighten me at all. x4

Footsteps, Carry on the breeze, Tiger in the trees, I hear him, Creeping slowly, Down, to, Catch me. Let me, Tell you what I know, How the river flows, I’ve seen them, Curving softly, Down, to, Drown me. I can’t, Seem to find the sun, Searching for the light, I’m haunted, By the shadows, Of, you, My love.

If life was all aglow We wouldn’t know To clutch each moment dearly If we could lose the grip Of fate’s cruel fist We’d see it all less clearly, I Can be anything, I have a thousand dreams I am a million stars and everything between But oh, to be with you, Nowt else to do But while away the hours
7.
If you ever fell, Lost your way and fell, Suddenly you fell, Maybe down a well? Could you even tell, If you ever fell, How it all would feel, Is it even real? And I know it's true, Anyway for you, That you probably won’t, but, careful.

Was that what, I thought it was? A welcome element? Found my face and I cried oh thank god it’s the Rain again Eyes screwed tight Some small light Comes through red hue I drew Breath, I might read again A book I’ve known and loved and worn to the end Arms thrown wide My mind alight How could I Have kept this all from sight Rain falls fast now And I could weep and dance and sing again

At last I see the sun The golden glow that tells me A new day is beginning And everything is made anew again Even me I too can make amends Over again And if our time has come The end of all our troubles The dawn of something nicer Where everything can start anew again You and me My true and lovely friend Over again

about

As someone who works mostly in collaborative spaces, Tom has spent years building an oversized collection of never-heard original songs. A small UK tour in 2022 provided the perfect platform to explore these songs alongside improvising musicians and lyricists. These explorations laid the groundwork for Tom’s debut album - ‘Buddleia’*.
The album explores mental health, nature, masculinity, vulnerability, growth, hope, acceptance, and joy - all filtered through the musical influence of Tom’s favourite artists (including Nina Simone, Snowpoet, Sullivan Fortner, and Cécile McLorin Salvant). He hopes at least some of these influences are apparent...
*Big shrub - very tough and very beautiful. Usually grows in 'ugly' places!
